The Art Of Body Brushing

Dry body brushing is an ayurvedic technique that has been practiced for centuries. It is performed by brushing the skin of your body with a natural bristle brush. Body brushing and be done to dry skin or you can combine it with a nurturing body oil such as our Skin & Sky Abundance Body Oil. Ideally, this practice can be done in the morning before taking a shower. It exfoliates your skin, unclogs pores, eliminates toxins, increases blood circulation and boosts lymphatic drainage. It also makes you feel energized which is why it is a great way to start your day. To dry brush effectively, follow these steps: 

  1. Begin with your feet and ankles, apply medium pressure as you stroke towards the area behind your knees.  

  1. Continue to stroke upwards toward your hips. 

  1. Continue brushing towards your heart. 

  1. Brush your hands and arms in the direction of your elbows and armpits. 

  1. Gently brush your neck and decolletage towards your heart. 

  1. Take a shower to wash away dead skin cells. 

  1. Apply Abundance Body Oil to moisturize your skin. 

 Body brushing will make you feel invigorated, and you will notice smoother, firmer and more radiant skin. You can practice body brushing daily or a couple of times per week. Remember to do this practice mindfully- feel your skin as it awakens and becomes alive with every stroke.
